Welcome

George’s old timers net is named after George Lee K1WZA, George Lee became a silent key January 2, 2000. Bill Margerum W1AQM was the first net control and Bill started the net in 1991. The original name of George’s was Ol’ Joes Net.

Now George’s continues every evening from 7:30pm to 8:30pm on the W1BIM repeater. The repeater is located in Paxton, MA with a frequency of 146.970 and a PL tone of 114.8 and is operated by the Central Massachusetts Amateur Radio Association. There is a website at www.cmara.org to find out more about the repeater and the great radio club.

George’s is a very informal net so you do not have to be a member and you do not even have to be named George. All Licensed Amateur Radio Operators young and old are welcome to check into the net; say hello and participate. Join in on the fun and tell us about your day, what’s going on in your Ham Shack, and tell us about any interesting contacts you have made on HF. George’s Old Timers Net will break for any Emergency or Priority Traffic so if you really need to make a call, you are welcome to do so.
